Overview

What this journey is about.

Northern Kenya holds species you will not find in the Mara. The Northern Five, Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and gerenuk, are all endemic or near-endemic to this dry-country biome.

The three reserves that make up the northern circuit, Samburu, Shaba, and Buffalo Springs, sit within an hour of each other and hold large concentrations of elephant and big cats in terrain that looks and feels entirely different from the southern parks.
