What this journey is about.
This is a specialist mammal-watching expedition, expertly organised to maximise chances of the East Coast's rarest species. We start in the North Coast at Ishaqbini National Reserve, the last stronghold of the critically endangered Hirola, the rarest antelope in Africa, where packs of African Wild Dog still roam freely and Genets and African Civet are targets on night game drives.
From there we move south through the Tana River primate forests for the endemic Tana River Red Colobus and Tana River Mangabey, then on to Arabuko Sokoke Forest for the Golden-rumped Elephant Shrew, Sokoke Mongoose, Caracal and Aders's Duiker. We close the loop at Tsavo East, Kenya's largest national park, combining big-game viewing with a final chance at Hirola, Bat-eared Fox, Gerenuk and Corke's Hartebeest.

Pick-up from Malindi airport and transfer to Tana River Primates Reserve for the endemic Tana River Red Colobus and Tana River Mangabey. Evening arrival at the lodge, then a guided night walk targeting Galagos, Genets and Owls.
