What this journey is about.
The Great Migration is the reason many travellers come to Kenya, and the Mara is where it is easiest to witness. Between July and October the wildebeest herds arrive from the Serengeti, cross the Mara River, and concentrate in the reserve alongside the resident big cats that specialise in intercepting them.
Our routes into the Mara during migration season focus on time, not covering more ground, but spending more of it in the right places at the right time of morning. River crossings are unpredictable; being on the ground with a guide who knows the Mara's rhythms makes the difference between watching one and hearing about one that happened an hour away.
